Killiecrankie Bungee Jump National Trust for Scotland Statement

The National Trust for Scotland is pleased to be working with Highland Fling Ltd to provide the brand new experience of bungee jumping at Killiecrankie because of the benefits this innovative partnership can bring, both to the site and to the local community.

The Killiecrankie bungee jump is expected to become one the highlights of Scotland’s adventure activity market. The area being used for bungee jumping is not part of the Site of Special Scientific Interest or part of the property connected to the Battle of Killiecrankie, By working with Highland Fling Ltd, the Trust can continue to ensure that the Pass of Killiecrankies core Heritage value is protected and that solutions are quickly found to any minor impacts that may occur.

It provides a great chance for the Trust to be involved in the growing outdoor activity sector, developing ways to increase awareness of, and respect for, the environment in which both providers and users of this, and other such adventure activities, operate. It provides an opportunity not only for the Trust, which is a charity, to generate funds for its conservation work, but perhaps more importantly for Highland Fling and its clients to make a positive financial contribution to the environment that they are using. We expect that the provision of bungee jumping at Killiecrankie will be an added attraction to bring new markets to Perthshire and support localbusinesses whilst in the area.

Perth and Kinross Council

Perth & Kinross Council Enterprise and Infrastructure Convener, Councillor John Kellas, said:

“I am delighted that the Council has been able to provide financial and practical support to Highland Fling in order to allow the business to start up. ”Tourism is a major driver of the Perth and Kinross economy, and innovative businesses such as Highland Fling will help ensure that visitors continue to come to the area, enjoy their stay and then return again in the future. This is the fist fixed bungee jump business in the UK, and because it is in such a beautiful, picturesque spot I’m sure it will attract people from all over the world. Perth & Kinross Council has been happy to assist Highland Fling and wishes it all the best for the future.”

The Gravity Gives Project is all about bringing together extreme sports (skydiving and bungee jumping) for the first time to support Save the Children.

Gravity Gives Project wants to champion the victories that Save the Children has worked so hard for and to give them a shot of adrenaline to keep up the effort to make the future of our children full of promise and hope.

Skydivers and bungee jumpers will collect pledge money online for Save the Children and on April 28th and 29th 2012, celebrate their sport. There will be individual and team jumps, demonstration jumps and who knows, maybe even a few world record jumps. It will be an adrenaline party unlike anything the charity world has ever seen.

Register online through the Gravity Gives Project website and spread the word out to everyone that you are going to “jump to Save the Children”.
